Bayer Leverkusen has established a football academy in São Paulo, Brazil, situated on the Bayer Brazil campus. This facility, capable of hosting up to 300 young players aged between 5 and 15, will be overseen by former club star Paulo Sergio.
The academy is scheduled to open its doors on July 5th. Commenting on the initiative, Sergio remarked that Bayer Leverkusen is ideally suited in Europe for aspiring young talents. He highlighted the club`s emphasis on integration and training, crediting his own development at Leverkusen for transforming him into a «top player and world champion.»
During his playing career with Bayer Leverkusen from 1993 to 1997, the former forward made 121 appearances for the club, known as `die Werkself`.
Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro also commented on the launch, describing the establishment of the football academy in Brazil as a significant step in the club`s international expansion strategy.
Carro added that Bayer 04 and Brazil share a long-standing special relationship. He stated that the new academy aims to inspire and support future footballers and fans, simultaneously reinforcing the club`s bond with this football-loving country and fostering collaboration with the wider Bayer organization in Brazil and Latin America.

El Bayer Leverkusen ha inaugurado una academia de fútbol en São Paulo, Brasil, situada en el campus de Bayer Brasil. Esta instalación, con capacidad para acoger hasta 300 jóvenes jugadores de entre 5 y 15 años, estará supervisada por la antigua estrella del club, Paulo Sergio.
La academia tiene prevista su apertura el 5 de julio.
